Michael Abelove

My Story

Michael Abelove is a Radio / Television student at the University of Central Florida. Growing up he would take on small videography projects, which included shooting video with the family camera and using his creativity on early versions of iMovie to perfect his projects. Now with videography as a career goal, Michael is learning the ins and outs of the video production and electronic newsgathering industries as a student.

Presently Michael is producing short news packages about unique people and places in the Orlando area. These short news packages are all setup, shot and edited by Michael and his class partner. All this creativity is done in a professional setting to emulate the real world on the job experience. All these news packages that are being worked on have the opportunity to be aired on WUCF TV, a local PBS affiliate.

As a hobby, Michael still creates his own personal videos. Recently, he has started to incorporate slow motion and time lapse into his videos. He is looking to expand his skills and styles further in order to make the most of his projects. Michael has also recently picked up an interest in electronic music production. With his friend Paul, Michael has learned the professional music production software Reason 7 in order to create a few songs. He hopes that one day, he will create videos using his own music to enhance his creative work. Along with video and music production, Michael has also taken up photography as a medium to express creativity. As with his personal videos, whenever given the chance, Michael will go out and find interesting and unique subjects to photograph. Though as of now it is simple photography he plans to expand his knowledge in the field.

With his experience in the field, classroom and hobbies and his drive to further improve his skills, Michael is looking to create exciting, professional and fun videos as a future career.

Work Experience

Volunteer at Office of Student Involvement
Productions

2010 - 2012

During the time volunteering at the Office of Student Involvement (OSI) productions my role was a camera operator during major school concerts and events. My goal was to shoot dramatic, energetic and exciting shots of performers and the crowd to stream to projectors at the venue and to live streams of the show. Some of the acts that I have shot while working with OSI include: Ludacris, LMFAO, Lupe Fiasco, Panic at the Disco, Alesso and many more.

Brick Specialist at the Lego Imagination Center

2012 - present

Though it is a part time job to help get through college, working at the Lego Imagination Center has given me an ample amount of time with one of the worlds most creative demanding toy. Being able to build with guest and fellow co-workers has given me plenty of inspiration that I can use as a videographer.

Education

University of Central Florida
2010 - present

I am currently student at the University of Central Florida (UCF) and I have decided to major in Radio Television with a minor in Film. After completing core classes, I have taken up many production courses. Example of the courses include: Electronic Journalism, Single Camera productions, Film Production and a new course (RTV 4906) which gives student the opportunity to produce news packages and have them aired on a local PBS television affiliate. Many of these classes put students in the real world to collect actual news or produce projects with the intent of being shown to a large audience. This gives students like myself first hand experience when it comes to any sort of video production.
